14-FEB-2016/Fulfilling God's Purpose by Pastor V.M Samuel
Pastor V.M. Samuel-How do we fulfil God’s purpose in our life?
Two key verses to ponder on: David had served God’s purpose in his own generation (Acts 13:36) Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God”. (Luke 18:27) We need to question if, as a church we have fulfilled God’s purpose in our city and nation. To serve God’s purpose, we have to co-operate with God, know His will and purpose in our life and have faith that the impossible is possible with Him. Five Guiding Principles: 1. Heart in tune with God 1 Samuel 16:7 When Samuel went to anoint a King, he was in tune with God who told him not to look at external factors like physical strength etc. Also, David was a man after God’s heart. He was no king/soldier when he started but had a heart for God. That made the difference. We may not be perfect but God prepares us to serve His purpose. 2. Take authority/responsibility without looking for appointment The Title was not important, but David the little boy went to battle to defend God’s name though no one asked him. You have to take ownership of the name of God. Zeal for God is important and it is important that you take initiative. Take responsibility yourself and don’t look for position. David had amazing faith in God and confessed his faith and showed it in action. 1 Samuel 17: 46 and 47 Who can stand against my mighty God? 3. Honor God’s appointed 1 Samuel 24: 26 -27 David could have destroyed Saul. Even though his friends urged, David said he would not touch God’s anointed. Never talk against leaders/elders. They sacrifice their life/comfort/family to serve us and God. If they make mistakes, hug them/love them. Support them financially even if they don’t expect. All throughout 1 and 2 Samuel, David never uttered even a single word against Saul. Honor the leadership God has placed over you in your office/church/nation. 4. Confess your sins and repent like David did. 5. Worship God and believe/have faith that He will work miracles and is the God of impossible Psalms 26: 6-8 David worshipped God with all his might. When he was alone/with his people, in sadness/joy and victory/defeat. Come to the house of God and worship with others.Keep reading
