David's Stone by Pastor John
The Story of David and Goliath Significance in our life: Staff- God's power. Stones- us; we the people. Sling-our prayer. Stream- Holy Spirit. Why did David take SMOOTH stones? Smooth stones always reach their destination. God wants us to be like the SMOOTH stones, to be used for his glory. The Holy Spirit is very important, it is difficult to understand God's word and work without the Holy Spirit. David's five stones- Stone 1:His attitude-He always depended on God. 1 Samuel 17:26, 1 John 4:4-David believed that we belong to God and we are his children/armies of God. 1 Samuel 17:28 Eliab tried to pull down David, the same way the people of the world criticise us, but we should still hold onto God. Stone 2: Faith 1 Samuel 17:34-37 God gave David little by little to deal with, which increased his Faith.(bear ,then the lion and then Goliath.) 1 Samuel 17:38-40 David did not take the armour instead he took his staff (God's power) with him. He had faith in God. Stone 3: Humility Though God had anointed David before the scene, he did not boast about it to his father and brothers. He was humble. Stone 4: Reliance 1 Samuel 17:45-47 David did not know that he would have to fight, but when the time came he relied on God. Stone 5: Action The army didn't want to fight with Goliath but David was ready to move. David's action showed his faith. We also have to move and allow the Holy Spirit to work in us. We have to take a step of Faith. "Taste and see that the Lord is good"Keep reading
