Taking our Salvation for Granted

My key take back from the entire ABS Acts bible study is that I have taken my salvation for granted. I am not zealous enough for the Lord.
The Acts ‘Fairy Tale’

Acts 28: Acts ends like a fairy tale. Instead of ‘they lived happily ever after’, it’s ‘Paul preached happily ever after’.
As I look through the book of Acts, one thing that strikes me is Paul’s zeal for the gospel. The way he just had to share it. I think sometimes we take the gospel for granted, maybe because we just ‘know’ it for so long.
GOD IS FAITHFUL

When the angel of God appeared to rescue Peter, the angel asks him to gird himself or put on his cloak. It probably must have been cold at night and Peter must have forgotten about it in the excitement of being rescued. God didn’t forget. He not only rescues us in the big scary moments. He still watches over our little needs.

The cross reference for this week is Romans 11:1-29
Romans 11:5 : My salvation is not because I am good or do good things. Rather I am His gracious choice!
Romans 11:8: God gave them a spirit of stupor, Eyes to see not and ears to hear not
As I pray for my unsaved relatives and people I love, my constant prayer will be ‘Lord open their hearts’. It is not enough that I open my mouth to share the gospel. But God must give them a spirit to hear and see. Lord pour out your gracious choice on my loved ones.

- Peter ‘s humility when Cornelius fell to his feet was reflected by his statement ” I too am just a man”
- God shows Peter through vision that no man can call any man unholy or clean.

Week 9 spoke to me a lot. I would like to highlight few of them here. 1. Paul’s journey- Just marking and highlighting the journeys in the map was exhausting. But Paul never ceased from his calling and his passion to spread gospel various cities.

This portion of Acts has always been my favourite and I was waiting for this day of study!
Acts 16:12-40:
1. Paul was annoyed by the evil spirit. Was he right being annoyed? He was getting free witness of who they actually were. It is amazing to see that Paul did not want anything from the Kingdom of darkness, even if it is seemingly helped the Kingdom of light. If Paul had put up with it, they could have continued to preach without any trouble.
